This past Thursday during the Essex Wedding Awards at Orsett Hall Hotel it was announced that I won my category of "ESSEX WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2017-2018".

I was so honoured to have won and when my name was called out I'll admit I did get a little too excited by high 5'ing everyone on my table before collecting my trophy - you have to milk the moment though right?? What made the night even better was that my one of wedding clients Kayleigh and Tom also won the most romantic couple of Essex trophy... Other winners from my table were Wedding Entertainment (Live Act) of the Year - Essence Duo, Wedding Dress Retailer of the Year - Laceys Bridal Boutique as well as Charlotte from the beautiful Greenwoods Hotel & Spa who sponsored the most romantic couple in Essex category.

The day after Joanna and Mark's destination wedding at the Blue Palace Luxury Resort and Spa in Crete we decided to get more creative, to end the shoot we decided that Joanna would just into the pool, this was one of many photos I loved from the set. The Jurassic Coast is an UNESCO World Heritage Site with 185 million years of history, including dinosaur discoveries. For the 5th consecutive year gavin conlan photography Ltd is proud to be a finalist in the "Essex Wedding Photographer of the Year" category of the Essex Wedding Awards. The award winners will be announced on the 23rd November 2017 at the black tie gala dinner at Orsett Hall. Also a special shout out to my sisters designer cake company (NJL Creations) who also is a finalist in her "Wedding Cake Designer of the Year" category.

Every so often it's really important to get together with other wedding professionals to work on personal projects, it gives us the perfect opportunity to experiment with new styles, looks and photo techniques as well as getting inspired by each other. For this shoot I was lucky enough to work with Tina, Emma and Dee once more and lovely models for the first time, as on our previous shoot for Belchamp Hall the results were great! I especially wanted to create a behind the scenes video for the shoot and the final production exceeded my expectations - combined with the music I purchased I find it quite emotional to watch.
